v24 And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
Those who belong to Christ; the earliest manuscripts read, “They that are of Christ Jesus”; they that belong to Christ Jesus; being “led by (His) Spirit.” We that are in Christ belong to Him. We are His children. We walk according to His will and His calling. We are set apart from the world, and do not follow the destructive ways of the world. Our sins have been crucified with Christ, they were nailed to the wooden cross and have been forgiven for those who believe and are baptized into Christ. Because our sins have been crucified with Christ, the Spirit can now work in us, bringing forth new fruit, Galatians 5:22. We were dead in our sins, but Christ brings us a new life, where our old life is crucified on that cross with our sins. We can walk forward in confidence knowing that we that belong to Christ do not have to suffer eternal punishment for our sins, they were forgiven on the cross by His death.
