Matthew 11:28

28 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.[1]

Jesus is echoing personified wisdom from Proverb 9 verses 1 through 5 when He says this. Jesus invites the weary to find rest in Him. He doesn’t however extend that invitation to those who are naturally intelligent, but to the children, not to the strong, but the weary and heavy-laden. We know that Christ provides us this great comfort, He alone can take our burdens, in exchange for His yoke. This is a refreshing thought in the darkening of the world, where sin runs rampant, and unchallenged. Those who Christ calls to Himself can find peace and joy and rest in Him.
