2 Corinthians 12 Verse 9

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.[1]

Through our struggles and weakness, God will accomplish His purpose without taking from His servant the thorn that seems to hinder them. Despite our weakness, God’s grace accomplishes His purpose in a fallen world. The promise from God to Paul gives him strength and encouragement to carry on as Paul encounters attacks from the apostolic authority in Corinth. Paul’s opponents have peddled a “different gospel” removing Christ and the Cross. Paul stands firm in his assertion of preaching Christ Crucified. When we encounter weakness in any element of life, we can turn to the cross for strength and renewal.
