Proverbs 26 Verse 20

20    For lack of wood the fire goes out,

and where there is no whisperer, quarreling ceases.[1]

The fire of our soul must be kindled daily. We must dig into God’s word and pray continuously without ceasing. This keeps our fire burning bright daily, but without the wood (God’s word) the fire dwindles quickly. Keep that fire burning to not encounter times of strife and prevent mischievous consequences that come of it. Don’t give the time to liars, or those who string along tales of false teaching, for they will feed your fire with contention and the fuel becomes combustible. They drive divide between families, friends and neighbors by the tales they tell and seek to sow discord among many. These whisperers and backbiters are not to be suffered, quite their voices and the quarreling will cease. Build yourself up with the gospel and seek Christ-like people in your life. Those who share the same devotion to God’s word as you. Do not waste time with those who are slaves to the world.
