Galatians 1 Verse 13

13 For you have heard of my former life in Judaism, how I persecuted the church of God violently and tried to destroy it[1]

The former life of Saul of Tarsus who becomes Paul the Apostle was full of persecution. He sought to target Christians and kill them. His conversion on the road to Damascus he realized his faults and repented. Looking to live a life solely dedicated to Christ, which is why he can say that he did not receive the gospel understanding from his previous life. He received the gospel from Christ alone. Paul did carry a lot of shame with him about his former life but used it to see God’s grace and how it overcame the resistance of the most rebellious sinners.
